About wheremakan
Decide Less. Makan More.
What is wheremakan?
wheremakan is a smart food recommender built for one daily problem: deciding where and what to eat. Instead of endless scrolling and group chats, you tell us your budget, cravings and dietary needs, and we pick one great place for you to eat right now.
For groups, wheremakan creates a shared voting room so friends can decide together — complete with a midpoint meeting area and private ballots.
What does “makan” mean?
Makan (pronounced "mah-kahn") is the Malay and Indonesian word for “eat” or “food”. It is used every day in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia the same way English speakers say "let's grab a bite" — so “wheremakan” simply means “where to eat.”
If you are visiting from the US: think of us as your local friend who always knows the best nearby spot for hawker stalls, mamak, cafes, sushi, burgers or whatever you are craving.
Our promise
- One clear recommendation. No endless lists — just the best match for your moment.
- Respects your must-haves. Dietary restrictions like Halal or Vegetarian are never relaxed.
- Built for groups too. Decide with friends without the back-and-forth.
- Local by default. We understand the places, prices and lingo of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the US.
Who it is for
Locals hunting for lunch, tourists exploring a new neighborhood, friends meeting after work, and anyone who has ever stared at their phone asking, “so… where makan?”
